सोमवार की सुबह तक कई परिवार जो लगभग 40 सालो से अपने पुराने घर में रह रहे थे वो आज अपना घर खाली कर चुके थे और पास के सराय काले खां में किराए का मकान ढूंढ रहे थे। उनका घर दक्षिण दिल्ली के तैमूर नगर नाले के सामने था – और यह सोमवार की सुबह ढहाए जाने वाले पहले ढांचों में से एक था।
“हम इतने सालों से यहां रह रहे हैं… और अब जब हमें यहां से हटाया जा रहा है, तो हमें बदले में कुछ नहीं मिल रहा है। मैं समझता हूं कि नाले को साफ करने की जरूरत है, लेकिन कम से कम उन्हें हमें रहने के लिए जगह तो देनी चाहिए थी,” ये तैमूर नगर में रहने वालो का। यह तब हुआ जब पड़ोसी महारानी बाग के निवासियों ने अदालत के समक्ष तर्क दिया कि नाले पर अवैध रूप से कूड़ा डालने और अनधिकृत निर्माण के कारण मानसून के मौसम में उन्हें भारी बाढ़ का सामना करना पड़ता है। इससे जल निकासी की क्षमता कम हो जाती है और प्रदूषित पानी महारानी बाग और न्यू फ्रेंड्स कॉलोनी जैसे समृद्ध दक्षिण दिल्ली के इलाकों की सड़कों पर वापस बह जाता है। इसके बाद अदालत ने डीडीए को नाले के रास्ते में किसी भी तरह की बाधा को हटाने का निर्देश दिया था।
कुल मिलकर ये है की रहिसो की परेशानी की निजात के लिए गरीब लोगो की झुग्गी बस्ती तहस नहस कर दी गई है जबकि दिल्ली की मौजूदा सरकार का कहना था की जहाँ झुग्गी वही मकान परन्तु लोग कह रहे है जहाँ झुग्गी वही शमशान। देखिये इस खास रिपोर्ट में।
By Monday morning, several families who had been living in their old house for nearly 40 years had vacated their house and were looking for a house to rent in nearby Sarai Kale Khan. Their house faces the Taimur Nagar drain in south Delhi – and was one of the first structures to be demolished on Monday morning.
“We have been living here for so many years… and now that we are being evicted, we are getting nothing in return. I understand the drain needs to be cleaned, but at least they should have given us a place to live,” said a Taimur Nagar resident. This came after residents of neighbouring Maharani Bagh argued before the court that they face heavy flooding during the monsoon season due to illegal garbage dumping and unauthorised construction on the drain. This reduces the drainage capacity and polluted water flows back into the streets of affluent south Delhi areas like Maharani Bagh and New Friends Colony. After this, the court had directed the DDA to remove any obstruction in the path of the drain.
The bottom line is that the slums of poor people have been demolished to get rid of the problems of the residents, while the current government of Delhi said that where there is a slum, there will be a house, but people are saying that where there is a slum, there will be a crematorium.
